The easiest way to cut down on costs with your invitations and save the dates, is simply do it yourself. Don’t worry, there are so many free resources out there to make this easy. My favorite tool for creating wedding invitations or save the dates is Canva.

I had so much fun using Canva to create my own wedding invitations, save the dates, and thank you cards. They have so many free invitation templates that you can choose from, or you can design your own. I even decided to upgrade my Canva subscription to the pro version for a couple of months to really get my wedding stationary exactly how I wanted it.

#2 Print Your Wedding Invitations with an Affordable Website

I don’t recommend printing your own wedding invitations. First off, it’s a hassle that takes extra time and money. If you’re invitations are double sided, it is extra tricky. I suggest shopping around to find the best price for printing wedding invitations. I looked into Zola, Canva, and Shutterfly to get quotes on paper printing. My favorite budget friendly option is Zola. They recently added a feature to upload your own design and use their printing services. Additionally, they always have at least a 30% off discount code, and the paper quality is great. If you are using Zola for your wedding website, they also offer free guest addressing which saves so much time!

#3 Add Special Touches

If you decide to DIY your wedding invitations, you can elevate them with some special touches. I made my DIY wedding invites stand out with a vellum paper jacket and a custom wax seal. Simple invitations can look expensive with that perfect extra touch. Some other easy options are tying twine around the invitation, or adding a leaf or flower from your own garden.
